Due to a drive for greater success, this advanced manufacturing business is currently searching for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to add to their talented, hardworking team in Barrow on an initial 6-12 month contract. Striving for innovation and creativity you can ensure no two days will be the same. This role will be offering £58.06 travel per hour inside IR35 / Umbrella

The Role

A vacancy has arisen for a professional Senior Mechanical Engineer to work within Weapon Systems UK, within the research and technology team.

As part of Platforms and Services organisation, Weapon Systems (UK) designs, develops, manufactures and supports artillery systems, naval guns, small and medium calibre barrels and provides engineering capability to the wider BAE systems business. Our global reach brings our customers a depth and breadth of expertise that meet critical needs in the air, on land, and at sea.

* Lead the development of solutions to technical issues as a member of an integrated project team, reporting to Technical Leads and directly to the customer.
* Developing design solutions based on customer or internally derived requirements, validating, and verifying through the design process.
* Review and check design work and technical reports, providing help and direction to less experienced engineers.

You

* Engineering background in a weapons system or design for military use.
* Structural / Stress analysis (MS Excel, Mathcad, FEA {PTC Simulate / Ansys})
* System control (Matlab /Simulink)
* Hydraulic system design
* Material selection and manufacturing techniques
* Experienced in CAD (ideally PTC Creo)
