PLC Control Systems Engineers to join our dynamic team in Barrow-in-Furness. As a PLC Software Engineer, you will be instrumental in developing and maintaining programmable logic controller (PLC) software solutions for submarines. You will work on challenging projects that contribute to the safety, performance, and effectiveness of our submarines, supporting our mission to deliver superior maritime defense capabilities. Key Responsibilities: Design, develop, and test PLC software solutions for submarine control and automation systems. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate PLC systems with other onboard systems and equipment. Ensure compliance with rigorous safety and quality standards throughout the software development lifecycle. Conduct system analysis and troubleshooting to identify and resolve software-related issues. Support commissioning, sea trials, and post-delivery activities as part of the submarine build and support process. Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies in PLC programming and automation. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field. Demonstrated experience in PLC programming and software development, preferably in a maritime or defense-related industry. Proficiency with PLC programming languages, such as ladder logic and structured text. Familiarity with industrial communication protocols, including Modbus, Profibus, and Ethernet/IP. Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment. Eligibility for UK security clearance. Due to the nature of this role you will need to have excellent team skills, be self-motivated, fast-learning and have the ability to prioritise and manage your own work with minimal guidance.
