I'm looking for a Reliability and Maintainability Engineer to join BAE Systems in Warton, Carnforth working in their Air division.

What you'll be doing:

  • Working within an international team to develop Prognostics, Health and Usage Monitoring (PHUMS) engineering solutions, providing engineering input to a complex and fast-paced programme of work
  • Contributing to the engagement with Customer and Industry SMEs to elicit, understand and capture user and system requirements for FCAS & GCAP PHUM System
  • Contributing to concepts and philosophies for how PHUMS will be implemented, managed and delivered end-to-end for FCAS
  • Contributing to PHUMS specifications and requirements during the design & development phase of the programme, and then overseeing implementation and mobilisation during the transition into the in-service phase
  • Contributing to strategies & plans throughout the life-cycle for the development and implementation of the PHUMS solution
  • Ensuring integration of the PHUMS solution with other product and service development areas on the programme, such as ensuring the requirements for IT, digital and physical infrastructure, as well as interfaces with the air platform itself, are elicited and communicated

Essential Skills:

  • HND Level 5 or Degree qualified in a relevant engineering field (or demonstrable professional experience working in a relevant engineering roles)
  • Knowledge of Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) approaches and tools (e.g. MooD or CAMEO, SysML, MagicGrid)

Desirable Skills:

  • Knowledge of the principles of Diagnostic, Prognostic, Health and Usage monitoring technologies and techniques
  • Experience in the generation of requirements and specifications for airborne systems and ground-based systems (e.g. off-board PHUMS)

This role is part of the Prognostics, Health and Usage Monitoring Engineering Team (PHUMS) and is an exciting opportunity to be involved in a major international combat air development programme during the early design life-cycle - influencing the design for support considerations of the core platform concepts from a PHUMS point of view as well as eliciting and developing requirements for both the on and off board products.

The RAM Engineer will work within the FCAS/GCAP project, contributing to the approach for PHUMS whilst ensuring that the latest engineering frameworks, standards, tools and methods are being applied within the FCAS programme environment. Initially focused on developing concepts and working with the customer and suppliers to define the PHUMS requirements and specifications for the Prognostics, Health and Usage Monitoring capability.

The salary is £50,000 to £55,000 plus an excellent benefits package and is hybrid-working.
