I'm looking for a Product Safety Engineer to join a leading defence organisation based in Filton. Are you an experienced Product Safety Engineer with a passion for ensuring the safety and reliability of complex defence systems? Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement safety management processes, ensuring that defence systems meet all relevant safety standards and regulations.
 - Conduct safety assessments and analyses, including Failure Modes Effects and Criticality Analysis (FMECA), Fault Tree Analysis (FTA) and Hazard Analysis.
 - Lead the creation and maintenance of product safety documentation, including Safety Cases, Safety Requirements and Safety Certification.
 - Ensure compliance with defence safety regulations and standards, such as DEF STAN 00-56, MIL-STD-882 and ISO 26262.
 - Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including design, development, and testing engineers, to identify and mitigate safety risks throughout the system lifecycle.
 - Support the development of safety strategies and contribute to risk management processes for defence products and systems.
 - Provide technical advice and safety guidance throughout the design, development and testing phases.
 - Participate in safety audits, reviews, and safety-related meetings to ensure adherence to safety policies and procedures.
 
Required Skills and Experience:
- A degree in Engineering, Safety Engineering or a related discipline.
 - Proven experience in Product Safety Engineering within the defence or aerospace sectors.
 - Strong knowledge of safety management systems and safety analysis techniques (e.g., FMECA, FTA, Hazard Analysis).
 - Familiarity with defence safety standards such as DEF-STAN 00-56, MIL-STD-882, and ISO 26262.
 - Experience in developing Safety Cases and working with Safety Certification processes.
 - Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a deep understanding of risk management principles.
 - Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage with stakeholders at all levels and produce clear, concise reports.
 
Desirable Skills:
- Familiarity with reliability engineering principles and tools.
 - Experience working in a highly regulated environment, particularly in the defence sector.
 - A safety-related qualification such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Safety Management Systems (SMS).
