Would you like to join an international defence company to support their clients by improving the capability, reliability and availability of their most critical assets? Due to continued investment, this global business is currently looking for a Design Manager - Buildings join their existing team in Plymouth (hybrid working) on a contract basis.

The responsibility

  • Management of the multidisciplinary design elements of the buildings, ensuring designer technical performance and making appropriate technical responses.
  • Provide Technical design guidance and review of the overall design packages including safety functional requirements as defined in the Safety Case.
  • Provide Technical design guidance and review integration of the designs with other design packages
  • Ensure that the design documentation covers the scope of operations required by the Project Manager and is produced to agreed standards, schedule and budget
  • Plan for effective project implementation, identifying key factors and effectively contributing to the project's technical planning process.

Experience Required

  • Previous experience of high level Technical Management of highly complex building projects
  • Design and construction of major new industrial buildings with multifunctionality - workshops, storage, offices etc.
  • It would be beneficial to have experience on high hazard facilities in the nuclear sector or hospitals such as X-ray facilities.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of a Batchelor's Degree in Architecture or Engineering is required.
  • Preferred Chartered Architect or Engineer, registered with appropriate body.
  • Ideally Nuclear / Defence / Highly regulated.

Please note that due to security nature of this role, offers of employment will be dependent on obtaining SC security clearance. The vetting process is delivered by United Kingdom Security Vetting (UKSV) and will require candidates to provide proof of residency in the UK of 5 years or longer.
