My client is a leading manufacturer of custom-made steel door solutions in the Newcastle under Lyme area. They are looking for a Transport Planner to join them ASAP on a permanent basis.

The Transport Planner will be responsible for efficiently coordinating transport and logistics activities while ensuring alignment with cost targets and budget constraints. The role involves real-time scheduling, execution, and optimisation of transport operations to support business and customer requirements.

You will be responsible for:

  • Planning and scheduling new sales orders transportation activities to optimise efficiency and costs
  • Helping to manage budgets related to shipping deliveries by tracking expenses suggesting cost-saving measures
  • Monitoring transport performance, addressing issues proactively
  • Problem Resolution - Addressing any issues that arise, such as delays, quality concerns, or equipment malfunctions, and work to resolve them quickly
  • Ensuring transport schedules align with budgetary and operational targets
  • Maintaining accurate records of shipments, costs, and service levels
  • Processing and planning new sales orders into the real-time system as required.
  • Coordinating with internal teams and logistics partners to ensure smooth operations.
  • Communicating with customers and suppliers regarding shipment status, delays, or issues with their orders, updating Realtime
  • Cultivating a close relationship with customers and suppliers. Job Description

You will have:

  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in transport planning or logistics administration
  • Good written and verbal communication
  • Good forward planning
  • Ability to plan and prioritise own workload
  • High level of IT literacy including experience with Microsoft word and excel
