Steel Worker (Local)
Barrow Based
£26.89 an hour Umbrella Inside IR35
12 Month Contract initially.

This is a great opportunity to work within one of the UK's leading Defence organisations based In Barrow in Furness.

Purpose of the role:-
- Shipwright - Fabrication, assembly, installation of Steelwork, Woodwork and composite structures and supporting activities.
- Rigger - Carry out examinations, test and if necessary, repair of secondary lifting and associated equipment. Commission and install new equipment.
- Manufacture - Pre-fabrication and manufacture of steelwork, structures and items.

Typical duties include:-
- Work safely at all times, complying with Health and Safety and other relevant regulations and guidelines.
- Follow the relevant instructions, drawings and any other specifications.
- Use the appropriate methods and techniques to complete operations.
- Check the completed activity to ensure that all operations have been completed to meet the required specification.
- Use associated tools and equipment safely and effectively.

Knowledge: (Recommended max 5 bullets/statements)
- Must be a time served Steelworker, Plater, Fabricators or Shipwright with NVQ level 3. Experience of submarine /shipbuilding construction would be an advantage.
- Heavy steelworker experience is desirable and lining off and mark-out expierence would be an asset.
- Candidatee to ideally have 1 year of experience.
- Seeking candidates with experience in steel mock-ups, particularly those skills in building smaller modular components.
