JAM Recruitment are working in partnership with a market leading manufacturing business based in Telford in the search for a Purchasing & Supply Chain Assistant to join them on a permanent basis at a time of exciting business change and ambitious plans for growth

The Purchasing & Supply Chain Assistant will support the Purchasing Manager in all aspects of purchasing for the company. The successful candidate will be responsible for purchasing allocated goods, materials and services to ensure that the company's operational needs are met, considering price, quality and delivery, ensuring continuity of timely supply.

You will be responsible for:

  • Supporting the procurement of production & nonproduction materials and services.
  • Demand analysis, purchase order generation and expedition.
  • Supporting with maintaining accurate stock levels in line with company objectives and maintain accurate data.
  • Raising any supply issues with the Purchasing Manager and advising on possible solutions
  • Supplier liaison and management, maintaining clear and timely lines of communication.
  • Supporting tender processes by gathering data, collating quotations and arranging sample trials where applicable.
  • New supplier assessment & set up.
  • Assisting with the development and implementation of a process to evaluate and report on supplier performance.
  • Maintaining & following purchasing processes and procedures.
  • Maintaining purchasing databases and files including contracts, pricing, orders etc and provide reports to internal stakeholders.
  • Supporting SAP purchasing implementation.
  • Supporting cost savings initiatives.
  • Supporting Purchasing & Supply Chain departmental administrational requirements.

You will have:

  • Experience in Purchasing/Supply Chain
  • Experience of a fast-paced manufacturing/FMCG environment - highly desirable
  • Intermediate level Microsoft Office Applications
  • Ability to work in a fast- paced environment to tight deadlines
  • Ability to communicate in all formats and at all levels with colleagues, managers and external organisations
  • Strong Organisational skills to prioritise effectively
