Product Development Engineer
Glascoed Based
£37.57 an hour Umbrella Inside IR35
12 Month Contract initially.
This is a great opportunity to work within one of the UK's leading Defence organisations based In Glascoed.
Responsibilities
- Assisting product development and systems engineering activities for new products
- Coordination of product development and related engineering activities
- Configuration and maintenance of Engineering bills of materials for products
- Product development and evaluation e.g. Pugh Matrices, Fault Tree Analysis, Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA)
- Manufacture, test and evaluation of munitions products
- Conducting and managing trials in a safe and suitable manner - from the trials planning stage to completion of the trial and presentation of the data
- Development and use safe systems of work
- Development of quality systems
- Management of stakeholders, both internal and external, to ensure that development activities are completed to time and schedule
- Contribution to the Life Cycle Management Process where required
- Contribution to the Risk Management process
- Liaise with customers as demanded
- Working as part of an integrated project team, with regular engagement across other functions; including project management, procurement (supply chain) and commercial
Competencies, Skills and Qualifications
Essential
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or similar Engineering discipline)
- Available for immediate start
- Applicants must be able to demonstrate a proven capability in development projects, in particular system integration
- Proven ability to take ownership, prioritise and deliver product Engineering tasks within development projects to ensure completion within agreed timescales and to required standard
- Ability to produce high quality technical reports
- A good working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite and strong IT skills
- A good understanding of project/risk management and the ability to use associated tools and techniques
- Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and models
Desirable
- Master's Degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Electronic Engineering with proof of experience in developing complex electro-mechanical systems
- Product development experience in the Engineering industry
- Chartered Engineer or Membership with appropriate Engineering Institution
- Knowledge and experience of munition design and manufacture
- Experience of product test and evaluation activities
- Familiarity with the Life Cycle Management (LCM) process
- A working knowledge of Systems Engineering and Engineering design
- Working knowledge of Risk Management
- Awareness of relevant manufacturing technologies and processes
- Current valid UK Security Clearance to SC level or higher
