I'm seeking experienced Mechanical Engineers to join my clients team supporting projects within the UK nuclear sector. You will work on safety-critical systems across the full project life-cycle, contributing to the design, assessment, delivery and maintenance of mechanical engineering solutions in a highly regulated environment.
This role offers the opportunity to work on nationally significant infrastructure projects while developing your expertise within one of the UK's most technically challenging and rewarding industries.
Key Responsibilities:
- Produce and review mechanical designs, calculations, and technical documentation
- Support the development of safety cases and engineering justifications
- Ensure designs comply with relevant codes, standards, and nuclear regulations
- Interface with multidisciplinary teams including safety, electrical, and civil engineers
- Provide engineering support during manufacture, installation, commissioning, and operation
- Participate in technical reviews, hazard assessments, and design substantiation activities
- Promote and uphold a strong nuclear safety culture at all times
Requirements:
- Degree (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
- Experience working in a regulated engineering environment (nuclear, defence, oil & gas, or similar)
- Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles (e.g. stress analysis, materials, thermodynamics, or fluid systems)
- Familiarity with UK engineering standards and best practices
- Ability to produce clear, high-quality technical documentation
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
Desirable:
- Experience in the UK nuclear sector
- Knowledge of safety case development and ALARP principles
- Chartered or working towards Chartered Engineer (CEng) status
- Experience working with clients, regulators, or nuclear site licensees
Security & Eligibility:
- Due to the nature of the work, candidates must be eligible to obtain UK security clearance and have the right to work in the UK.
The salary is £48,000 to £61,500 for senior and £61,500 to £80,000 for principal level with all roles working to a hybrid model of 3x days per week on site.
