A company that specialise in building services related design work for the Pharmaceutical and Food & Beverage industries is seeking to recruit a Head of Mechanical Building Services Design to work from their new site in Stockport.
The Role
This position will involve:
* Leading the mechanical design team, plus supporting site delivery of our projects as part of a wider project team.
* Taking on the role of Lead Designer on selected projects
* Interacting with clients to obtain establish project and end user requirements.
* Delivering engineering assignments ranging from initial concept and feasibility studies through to full detailed design on technically challenging projects.
* Working on a variety of R&D and manufacturing projects including laboratories, manufacturing facilities, clean rooms, containment facilities and office /support accommodation
* Working on several projects of varying size or complexity in parallel, leading and guiding the mechanical engineering team including associated CAD/Revit resources.
* Taking ownership of the mechanical services design elements of the projects.
* Allocating and managing the required resources to deliver the projects to an agreed cost plan and program.
* Interacting with a multidisciplinary team of in-house architects, engineers and project managers, you will take a pro-active role in co-ordination and compliance with the project brief and key objectives.
* Taking the lead in investigation and utilisation of the latest technologies and addressing complex design aspects of the life science sector projects
* Monitoring the progress of your team members and identifying their training needs to develop specific skills or knowledge.
* Working closely with the Director of Engineering and other Directors within the company to expand and enhance the department capabilities.
* Supporting the Business Development (Sales) Team as and when required
Experience
Ideal candidates will be experienced in managing building services related mechanical design projects for the Pharmaceutical and / or Food & Beverage industries. A CEng qualification would be preferred for this position but not essential for candidates with the right sort of experience.
