Role Description

The successful applicant will be asked to manage and discharge Uploaded Mass Properties (UMP) tasks relating to Typhoon Series Production Aircraft Flight Acceptance Trials and Customer aircraft delivery (Qatar); In-Service support to RAF / RSAF / RAFO / QEAF (Forward Availability and Maintenance Units) and the mass properties management of the Typhoon flight development fleet of aircraft. This is a key role in managing mass properties for the Typhoon air vehicle and will be in support of our customers operating the aircraft. The UMP process is a safety critical process and demands a high degree of numeracy and awareness of mass properties data. The role suites an engineer experienced in the management of mass properties and familiar with mass, centre of gravity and inertia data. The specifics of the process used on Typhoon will be tutored once in post.As part of the support to our Final Assembly teams, aircraft weighing activities will also be supported.

Main Responsibilities

  • A high degree of team working skills and an ability to swap jobs at the behest of the customer.
  • Communication and listening skills are essential as we work as an integrated team that needs all to be working on agreed tasks and milestones.
  • The role supports our customers operating Typhoon with safety critical mass properties data.
  • As the team operate a Risk Class 1 system, data integrity must be maintained at all times.
  • To provide aircraft specific mass properties data Aircraft weighing activities are performed and support to these activities will be required.

Desirable skills

  • Must have experience as a Weights engineer and be able to manage all mass property data.
  • Must have a proven record as working in a team that has worked together to satisfy shared goals.
  • Must be a good communicator who likes working in a dynamic environment.
  • Although all toolsets have been validated good IT skills on Excel and MathCAD are expected.
  • Experience in the process of aircraft weighing.
  • An awareness of health and safety is essential especially when supporting our aircraft weighing activities.
  • The candidate must have excellent Microsoft Office Excel, Word and good Outlook skills.
  • Communication, Team Working and Motivation are Essential
