An amazing opportunity has come up for a contract Buyer to join one of the largest UK Defence companies working on some exciting projects, on an initial 12-month contract basis, plus extensions.

The Role: Hardware Test Solutions Engineer
Contract: 12-months initially plus extensions
Rate: £15.64 per hour umbrella
IR35 status: Inside IR35.
Location: Samlesbury, hybrid working


The Role:

An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join the existing Manufacturing Capital Equipment procurement team, working as a Buyer responsible for capital equipment and operational maintenance procurement on behalf of the BAE Systems Air Sector business.

The role is varied and covers all areas of manufacturing equipment procurement within the defence aviation sector and will provide you with the ability to work with a range of key stakeholders including engineers, finance, subject matter experts, external suppliers, external contractors & professional consultants.

You will be responsible for supporting the delivery of the Capital Equipment category strategy and supporting the wider procurement team with the delivery of capital projects, supporting you with your ongoing development and exposure to the organisation.

Responsibilities include:

Undertake supplier assurance activities (including checking credit ratings, ISO, SSIP, insurance, etc…)

Ensure compliance with company governance policies and procedures Lead / assist in annual service contract renewals including; requirements validation, competitive tendering, contract term & price negotiations Raise purchase orders in line with agreed terms Support of category strategy actions and initiatives

Actively identify and deliver continuous improvements and savings in support of the Indirect Procurement Services Value Proposition

Your skills and qualifications:

Essential:

Comfortable operating in a team working environment from various locations including: home / office / manufacturing sites Ability to follow and apply governance policies Competent communicator across a range of stakeholder levels and business areas Have a determined, proactive and flexible approach Ability to work under pressure whilst ensuring deadlines are met Experience with Word and Excel programmes

Desirable:

Experience working within the manufacturing sector
