Would you like to join an international defence company to support their clients by improving the capability, reliability and availability of their most critical assets? Due to continued investment, this global business is currently looking for a Technical Support Engineer, to join their existing team in Plymouth (mostly remote working, onsite once every couple of months) on a 12 month contract.
The Role
You will join the 'Major Infrastructure Projects' (MIP) Business Unit assisting and supporting the Design Management Team to provide the framework and governance for the engineering team to deliver the project scope. As a Technical Support Engineer, your responsibilities will include the following but not limited to:
- Undertake a range of technical administration activities, which may include desk top investigations and field visits to gather information to respond to specific issues.
- Monitor engineering processes and identify areas where improvement can be made.
- Assemble and publish routine and ad hoc reports to management, including analysis of performance with commentary.
- Analyse, interpret and evaluate relevant functional information, concepts and ideas and use these to develop solutions to problems.
- Apply knowledge of engineering principles to implement new processes as guided by the Design Management Team.
- Undertake tasks within the Information Management and BIM areas of the project in order to ensure successful implementation of the BIM principles.
You
To succeed within the role of a Technical Support Engineer, you'll have experience in a similar position and have the following skills:
- STEM based qualifications will have been successfully completed at Post 16
- Being able to work on their own or as part of a wider team, taking responsibility for the quality of their work to deliver value and insight.
- Identify solutions to problems, identify areas of business improvement and propose how to achieve improvement.
- An ability to gain an understanding and following health, safety and environmental guidelines.
- Knowledge of relevant computer applications including tools such as SharePoint and Excel.
- An ability to understand project, contract and engineering management principles and their application.
Please note that due to security nature of this role, offers of employment will be dependent on obtaining SC security clearance. The vetting process is delivered by United Kingdom Security Vetting (UKSV) and will require candidates to provide proof of residency in the UK of 5 years or longer.
