Due to a drive for greater success, this advanced manufacturing business is currently searching for a Stress Engineer to add to their talented team on a fully remote basis under a 6-month contract with the possibility of extension.

The Role

Within the role of Stress Engineer, you'll be responsible for:

  • Develop Stress analysis methods tailored for optimized sizing of the metallic and composite airframe structures.

  • Establish structured guidelines at different levels; from top-level instructions down to "how to" documents for the performance of the analyses.

  • Develop approaches and strategies for the validation roadmap, in collaboration with the Stress and Integrated product teams.

  • Define test needs, and perform test result evaluations.

  • Create clear and concise technical reports and documentation

You

To succeed within the role of Stress Engineer, you'll have experience in a similar position, and you'll ideally have the following skills:

  • Engineering degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related field is required

  • 8+ years of experience in Stress analysis, with application to both metallic and composite aircraft primary structures

  • Extensive knowledge of stress & damage tolerance analysis methods following established standards for CFRP and metallic structures

  • In-depth understanding of the loading scenarios and mechanical behaviour of aircraft structures

  • Knowledge of related coupon test standards. Component or full-scale level test experience is a strong plus

  • Working experience with the commercial FE code OptiStruct, and corresponding pre- and post-processing tools (HyperMesh and HyperView)

  • Scripting experience in programming languages such as Python, MATLAB, Bash Scripting, VBA etc.

  • Motivated, initiative and driven problem-solving attitude are critical as well as a high level of self-reliance and an autonomous target-oriented work style

  • Fluent English language skills are essential
