Barrow-in-Furness | Hybrid - 2 days onsite (Mon & Tues) + 1 Friday every 4 weeks
12-month contract
£53.90/hr Umbrella or £40/hr PAYE

Join a dynamic and high-performing team supporting a major UK defence programme. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced planning professional to play a key role in delivering a complex, high-value project within a structured and forward-thinking environment.

Role Overview

You will manage PM&C processes for a small standalone project or a work package within a larger programme. You may also provide support to a Project Manager on more complex initiatives and oversee one or two junior professionals, ensuring the delivery and performance of your area.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, baseline, progress, and maintain the design phase schedule in Primavera P6.
  • Input progress updates, actuals, and forecasts.
  • Impact assess and implement schedule change requests.
  • Support the Integrated Delivery Team (IDT) and liaise with cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Daily use of Jira and Confluence to track and report activities.
  • Provide guidance to less experienced team members.
  • Analyse project data and challenge schedule/PM&C issues where needed.

Skills & Experience Required

  • Strong experience in planning, monitoring & control within complex project environments.
  • Proficient in Primavera P6, Jira, and Confluence.
  • Skilled in leading plan reviews and implementing project change control.
  • Comfortable working in a collaborative but challenging environment.
  • Good analytical and reporting skills.
  • Able to coach and mentor less experienced planners or project professionals.
  • Familiar with both predictive and adaptive project management methodologies.

Qualifications & Knowledge

  • Degree-qualified or significant relevant experience.
  • APM PMQ or equivalent project management qualification.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of PM&C tools, techniques, governance, and assurance.
  • Understanding of defence or similarly regulated environments is beneficial.

Eligibility

Due to the nature of the work, candidates must be Sole British Nationals and eligible for BPSS and SC clearance.
