We're hiring a Senior Mechanical Designer in Manchester for a 12-month contract. This role involves guiding a team of designers, ensuring quality output from concept to support. Requires strong engineering expertise, CAD skills, and effective communication. Specialized knowledge and design experience are essential.

You

To succeed within the role of an Senior Mechanical Designer, you'll have experience in a similar position and you'll have the following skills and experience:

Essential:

  • HNC/HND minimum in a relevant discipline OR equivalent academic qualification
  • Experience in a detailed design environment
  • Good knowledge of CAD tools
  • Knowledge of General Engineering Drawing Practice
  • Incorporated Engineer status
  • ICF (Integrated Competency Framework) to be demonstrated or being worked
  • towards.
  • Demonstrable experience in technical leading of a multi-disciplined design team
  • Excellent communications skills and the ability to interface with other disciplines

Desirable:

  • Member of relevant Professional Institute
  • Breadth and depth of experience in a range of commercial or defence projects

In addition, you should have a HNC minimum in a relevant discipline OR equivalent academic qualification.



The Role

The role involves designing and developing solutions, resolving design issues and problems across various specialist design scenarios. It provides specialist technical advice and guidance to other designers, ensuring design governance for technical standards within the team. The role operates with a high degree of technical autonomy and typically incorporates Engineer status.
