A global leader in the defence industry is looking to hire a Senior Environmentalist to work on a permanent basis from their site near Bristol, on a hybrid working model (2-3 days per week in the office).
The Role
The main responsibilities of this position will include:
- Supporting the programme of work for Product environmental management activities and collation of environmental evidence and documentation
- Managing assigned work programme and liaising with Principal Environmental Engineer on environmental tasking
- Maintaining awareness of legislative requirements as applicable to our products, and maturing the compliance evidence
- Undertaking environmental assessments for equipment, systems and platforms, through desk study and engaging with system owners and suppliers
- Attending internal and external meetings on Product Environmental sustainability as required. Keeping up to date in relevant technical areas, developing skills and capabilities to be able to provide more effective services and supply environmental support and expertise to others as required
Experience:
Essential:
- Ideally degree qualified, likely to be in an environmental or related discipline
- Experience in environmental management, in an engineering or manufacturing environment
- Good knowledge of environmental legislation and environmental management techniques
- Meet the requirements for registration as Practitioner Member of IEMA
Desirable:
- Knowledge of the application of environmental management to a Defence/Maritime product
- Working knowledge of maritime and/or materials environmental legislation
- Understanding of sustainability principles as applied to a product
