Due to a drive for greater success, this advanced manufacturing business is currently searching for a Senior Engineer to add to their talented, hardworking team in Scotstoun on an initial 12 Month contract. You can be based out of Portsmouth/Filton or Scotstoun for this role.

The Role
Within the role of Senior Engineer, you'll be responsible for:
- Undertaking ship structures analysis as part of the Central Structures Team.
- Producing structural design solutions, supported by calculations, for either ship scantling issues or seat designs as required.
- Undertaking FEA analyses of wholeship or local structurural calcs.
- Preparing Design Sketches of structural solutions as required.
In addition, you'll also liaise with the Detail Design community and equipment owners to unblock issues preventing the conclusion of structural design activities.
You
To succeed within the role of Senior Engineer, you'll have experience in a similar position, and you'll ideally have the following skills:
- Good understanding of ship structures, in particular calculations of primary ship structure.
- Knowledge and competence in ship structural design including the derivation of scantlings and major equipment seatings from first principles.
- Sound capability in general structural theory and analysis and its application to ship structures.
- Able to perform analysis using recognised FEA tools, preferably Hypermesh and Abaqus.
In addition, any knowledge of class rules, particularly Lloyds Rules will be helpful.
