A leading name in the production of engineered materials is looking to recruit a new QHSE Manager, to lead the quality and health & safety function at their site near Blackburn. This is a full-time position offering a salary of £45,000 - £55,000 p/a, plus additional benefits and significant career advancement potential.

Reporting to the senior management team, your role within the business will be to lead and manage with a 'hands on' approach, establishing effective standards throughout the business and further developing a proactive safety culture and right first-time approach to all working practices. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Maintain, develop and improve quality, safety and environmental standards, including the management of QMS system and HSE Policy Manuals
  • Develop and improve systems to standardise key processes and activities
  • Lead the planning and implementation of process improvements
  • Effective management of document control systems and records
  • Plan and manage departmental activities and resources to achieve business targets within allocated timeframes
  • Plan, conduct, evaluate and report on audit findings, then implementing relevant appropriate corrective / preventative actions
  • Assess training requirements and ensuring adequate training in environmental, health and safety and quality control matters
  • Monitor QA performance and continually strive to reduce the cost of quality within the business and likewise increase the customer satisfaction rates
  • Timely and successful closure of customer and internal complaints
  • Review reporting data and produce quarterly summary assessments, highlighting trends and recommended improvements. Conduct "Town Hall" presentations to relevant functions
  • Visual management and promotion of QHSE on site
  • Ensures effective Supply Chain performance and controls are in place working in partnership with the procurement and finance teams

To be considered for this position your application should demonstrate a proven track record in management of QHSE role, preferably in a manufacturing or process engineering environment. You'll work well under pressure, be team and people focussed, influential, flexible, an effective communicator at all levels with confidence. Ideally you'll have NEBOSH or IOSH accreditation, as well as a good working knowledge of ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 and experience working with operating manufacturing (ERP - CRM) software systems.
