Principal EC&I Commissioning Engineer

Reading (fully onsite)

£71.34 per hour plus £5 per hour shift enhancement plus £100 per diem for those travelling more than 30 miles to site plus £5 per hour completion bonus

12 hour day

11 days on, 3 days off

Must be eliigble for SC clearance, can start on BPSS

We're seeking a Principal EC&I Commissioning Engineer to lead commissioning activities on complex Electrical and Control Systems within a highly regulated nuclear environment. This role is ideal for professionals with extensive site-based commissioning experience and a strong understanding of safety and compliance in a nuclear setting.


What You'll Be Doing

  • Lead a team of commissioning technicians delivering to national and project-specific standards

  • Input into design, construction, and commissioning stages to ensure commissionability

  • Develop and approve commissioning documentation (test plans, reports, records)

  • Execute and verify commissioning tests in line with safety protocols and QA expectations

  • Liaise with multidisciplinary teams including QA, Engineering, Construction, and Operations

  • Plan daily commissioning activities, track progress, and manage execution risks

  • Review vendor test documentation, witness FATs, and ensure data integrity


Key Skills & Experience

  • Extensive Electrical & Instrumentation / Control Systems commissioning background

  • Experience working in nuclear or highly regulated industrial environments

  • Familiarity with Siemens S7, Simocode, WinCC, Profibus, PICS

  • Understanding of commissioning processes including FATs, TCA's, FOBS/CRs, handover

  • Knowledge of 18th Edition IEE Wiring Regulations (for Electrical focus)

  • Strong documentation and Quality Management System (QMS) adherence


Qualifications

  • HNC / Level 4 Qualification (or equivalent commissioning experience)

  • 18th Edition Electrical Qualification

  • CSCS/ECS Card in relevant discipline

  • IOSH Managing Safely or equivalent

  • Membership of IET or other relevant professional body
