Would you like to solve some of the most interesting design challenges in the defence industry today? Due to continued investment, this global business is currently looking for a Mechanical Engineer to join their existing team in Plymouth or Bristol (mostly working from home, onsite once a month).

The Role

As a Mechanical Engineer, you will be as part of the Major Infrastructure Projects Business Unit responsible for managing the technical deliverables of the mechanical services engineering packages in line with the planned deliverables agreed by the Discipline Lead. Your responsibilities will include but not limited to:

  • Design work for piping systems - sizing pipework, pumps, design work to position pipework and pumps to located them
  • Involved in the review and processing of design produced by design sub contractors
  • Within SQEP profile, preparing and/or checking designs, analyses, reports, drawings, specifications and other documents in support of Nuclear and Non-Nuclear related plant, facility and equipment within the company's licensed, authorised and operational sites, or in support of external contracts.
  • Support the review and sentencing of new designs, methodology of construction and temporary works submitted to the Technical Authority.

You

To succeed within the role of a Mechanical Engineer, you'll have experience in a similar position and have the following skills:

  • Engineering degree (or equivalent qualification) in relevant engineering discipline, with significant demonstrable experience
  • Chartered Engineer status (or actively working toward Chartered Status)
  • Previously worked in Nuclear and Defence industry
  • Experience and knowledge in pipework and pumps design

Please note that due to security nature of this role, we can only consider those who have lived in the UK in the last 5 years and is eligible for SC clearance.
