An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Marine Designer to join a well-established engineering organisation supporting major offshore and marine projects.

This is a contract role offering hybrid working, competitive rates, and the opportunity to work within a globally connected project team.

The Role

As a Senior Marine Designer, you will support the Marine Team in delivering high-quality design outputs across complex projects. You'll liaise closely with multi-disciplinary teams, clients, and vendors, while coordinating with project teams across global offices to ensure deliverables are met within agreed timelines and budgets.

This role will involve both hands-on design work and leadership responsibilities, including mentoring junior designers and managing remote team members.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver marine and structural design work using Aveva Marine
  • Provide technical guidance and support to junior designers
  • Manage and coordinate a team of designers working remotely
  • Break down project tasks to drawing level and estimate required resources
  • Develop project-specific job notes, guides, and training materials
  • Organise schedules and allocate resources to meet project deadlines
  • Liaise with other engineering disciplines, clients, and vendors
  • Ensure deliverables are produced consistently and to required standards

Requirements

  • Marine and Structural Designer with formal qualification or significant on-the-job training
  • Minimum 10 years' relevant experience
  • Strong proficiency in Aveva Marine (essential)
  • Experience managing and coordinating design teams
  • Ability to plan workloads and prioritise effectively
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work in a multi-disciplinary environment
  • Competent in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Able to work efficiently in a fast-paced project environment
  • Comfortable working in a hybrid office-based role
