A Bristol based company that specialise in high precision test and measurement equipment is seeking to recruit a Manufacturing Engineer to work on a permanent basis.
The Role
This role will involve interfacing with manufacturing and design engineering in co-ordinating the release of new products. This will include implementation of cost efficient methods of assembly for all phases of product development and manufacturing.
Key Responsibilities
Verify designs of new modules/products and Design for Manufacturing Analysis (DFMA)
1. Combine Bill of Material (BoM) strategy with manufacturing line
2. Review design solutions in terms of safety, ergonomics, tooling, Form-Fit-Function
3. Create Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and production process steps
* Make recommendations for fixturing and process requirements for new product lines
* Develop, implement and maintain methods, operation sequence and processes in the manufacturing of sub-assemblies and final assemblies
* Estimate manufacturing cost, determine time standards and makes recommendations for process requirements of new product lines
* Maintain records and reporting systems for coordination of manufacturing operations
* Test Engineering activities such as supporting test sequences and test fixture development assembly instruction creation, BoM and assembly verification for specific programs
* Implement new ideas and defining new ways of processes to reduce costs and assembly time
* Makes recommendations for outsourcing vs building sub-assemblies in house
Experience
Ideal candidates will be experienced Manufacturing Engineers who have worked within a high technology industry with experience in lean manufacturing and design for manufacturing technology.
