The Background:

Working for a global oil & gas organisation this standalone role holds global responsibility for all strategic & operational mobility issues including tax and immigration compliance.

The Role:

The successful candidate will be responsible for but not limited to the following:

  • Partnering with the HR and business teams to deliver international mobility services

o In-house expert on mobility

o Covering tax, social security and immigration requirements

o Broad rather than deep knowledge required, knows when to involve external experts and the right questions to ask of the experts

o Work with business teams and HRD's to act as central coordinator and to build up in house expertise

  • Coordinating cross-border HR processes

o International assignment and expatriate management including advising on policy, practice and tax and social security implications

o First point of contact for work permits and immigration queries

o Advise on social security compliance, liaising with local teams to ensure correct documentation obtained, hold central database (e.g. A-1's, S1's in Europe)

o Advising on medical provision for movers

o Responsible for Business traveler data reporting process, including advising businesses and provision of data to external tax provider

o Advising local HR on payroll requirements for movers

o Ensuring provision of modified payrolls as required by businesses as efficiently as possible

  • Documenting and managing mobility policies

o Expert resource for international mobility with the Group HR team

o Maintain database of assignment letters, external advice notes

o Ensure consistency in application of mobility policies, and that there are documented approvals for any deviations

o Create and operate a diary management system for key dates

o Advising local HR teams on work permit applications, residency requirements, visa's etc

o Managing the immigration processes for key location pairings

  • Liaising with external experts

o Coordinate all interfaces between HR and external tax provider

o Create/coordinate standard processes and advice papers where required

o Responsibility for manage the central billing process

o Responsible for signing off global tax compliance support list annually

o Reduce the external service cost (cost reduction expected to at least pay for annual salary)

The Person:

  • The ideal candidate will have a mix of in-house international mobility experience gained in a large multinational (minimum 5) years AND/OR experience in a relevant consultancy firm, most likely tax consultancy (minimum 8 years)
  • Robust and resilient
  • Numerate with good organisational skills
  • Qualified to degree level
  • Exposure to HR, finance and tax
  • Gravitas and sufficient experience to make / recommend business approach
  • Team player
  • Sense of humour
