The Role


As a Flight Control Law Engineer, you will be responsible for:

  • Full cycle of flight control laws development activities from requirements flown down and validation, implementation and testing and integration.
    • In particular, in relation to the longitudinal control laws development.
  • Perform linear analyses to understand robustness of the FCL to aerodynamic parameter variation.
  • Perform non-linear analyses - verifying implementation of problem reports and conducting offline clearance tests for FCL baselines.
  • Interfacing with handling qualities and flight testing team on (piloted) testing of control laws baselines
  • Support the Aerodynamic and Modelling teams to ensure the suitability of the Flight Dynamics Model for Flight Control Laws development.
  • Support the flight control system and software teams on target integration and testing
  • Support of safety assessment activities on flight control system and aircraft level

You

To succeed within the role of a Flight Control Law Engineer, you will have the following skills:

  • MEng or M. Sc. in aeronautical engineering or similar degree
  • 5 years of professional experience in flight control law development for fly-by-wire aircraft with demonstrated track record of delivery
  • Good understanding of flight dynamics modelling, previous professional experience in this area is a plus
  • Experience with flight control development of highly augmented aircraft configurations is beneficial
  • Solid background in ARP 4754A and DO-178C (experience with model-based design/ DO-331 is a plus)
  • Excellent skills in Matlab/Simulink
