Would you like to join an international defence company to support their clients by improving the capability, reliability and availability of their most critical assets? Due to continued investment, this global business is currently looking for a Design Manager - Mechanical Handling to join their existing team in Plymouth (hybrid working, onsite once a month) on a 52 week contract.

The Role

As a Design Manager - Mechanical Handling you will support the delivery of services and mechanical handling equipment within the Dock Facility in Devonport. Your responsibilities will include the following but not limited to:

  • Lead and manage services and mechanical handling design packages for Dock Facility ensuring Requirements are met through the design process
  • Manage deliverables through the company Design process and Technical Governance process to ensure quality and consistency
  • Integration with other design disciplines to ensure that a co-ordinated Facility design is delivered

You

To succeed within the role of a Design Manager - Mechanical Handling, you'll have experience in a similar position and have the following skills:

  • A degree in an appropriate engineering discipline.
  • Chartered Engineer, registered with Engineering Council.
  • Design of services and mechanical handling equipment through design process with experience of requirements substantiation thereof.
  • Knowledge of services and lifting techniques, processes etc. within a facility based production environment.
  • Design of conventional services and mechanical handling equipment to support production activities, focus on materials handling and flow.

Please note that due to security nature of this role, offers of employment will be dependent on obtaining SC security clearance. The vetting process is delivered by United Kingdom Security Vetting (UKSV) and will require candidates to provide proof of residency in the UK of 5 years or longer.
