Controls & Instrumentation Engineer - Hybrid (Ilkley + Some UK Travel)
An established process engineering firm is looking for a Controls & Instrumentation Engineer to join their team. This is a hybrid role with a 50/50 split between project delivery and customer support, offering variety and technical depth.
The Role
Capital Projects
Design control systems for fans, pumps, valves, dampers, and instrumentation
Specify and manage subcontractors for panel build, software, and installation
Ensure electrical compliance with EN60204, ISO 13849, and IEC 62061
Support commissioning and handover on customer sites
Produce documentation including FDS, schematics, cable schedules and panel layouts
Customer Support
On-site testing, calibration and troubleshooting of control systems
Maintain support contracts and respond to breakdowns and service calls
Regular UK travel to customer sites, with flexibility on working location
Requirements
HNC or above in Electrical Engineering
3+ years in electrical/control design or automation
Strong understanding of PLCs, VSDs, and safety systems
Experience producing technical documentation from P&IDs and I/O lists
Able to manage site visits, testing, and commissioning
Clean UK driving licence
Nice to Have
Experience in thermal processes, printing, food, or paper industries
Familiar with MS Office and electrical design software (AutoCAD, EPlan, etc.)
Confident working independently and with clients directly
