Would you like to join an international defence company to support their clients by improving the capability, reliability and availability of their most critical assets? Due to continued investment, this global business is currently looking for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join their existing team in Plymouth (hybrid working, onsite once a week minimum) on an initial 6 month contract with futher 6 month extension possible and a view to move to a permanent role after.
The Role
As an Assistant Quantity Surveyor, you will provide the Senior Quantity Surveyor with effective support in compilation of pre tender estimates, cost planning and modelling of design and implementation options, cost review/monitoring of projects, tender compilation, negotiation, commercial review and subcontractor claim reviews. Your responsibilities will include but not limited to the following:
- Collate pre tender infrastructure estimates including cost planning and modelling of design options supporting tender compilation.
- Prepare cost input to Monthly Reports to client and Project Management for sub-contracts and/or facilities and in accordance with project procedures.
- Review cost plans produced by subcontractors and develop into agreed baseline budgets within the framework of the WBS and in conjunction with Relevant Project Staff.
In addition, you will also monitor and report on subcontract costs to date, man-hours to date and future trends/estimates to the client, project and corporate management and prepare forecasts of future costs including subcontractor claim reviews.
You
To succeed within the role of an Assistant Quantity Surveyor, you'll have experience in a similar position and have the following skills:
- MCIOB, MRICS or equivalent preferred or working towards RICS chartership
- Demonstrable quantity surveying experience in a construction environment
- NEC3 or NEC4 contracting experience is a must
Please note that due to security nature of this role, offers of employment will be dependent on obtaining SC security clearance. The vetting process is delivered by United Kingdom Security Vetting (UKSV) and will require candidates to provide proof of residency in the UK of 5 years or longer.
