HSE Associate

An amazing opportunity working on an exciting project as a contract SHE Associate to join one of the largest UK Defence companies, on an initial 12-month contract basis, plus potential extensions. There is a view of starting the right candidate ASAP.

Contract: 12-months initially plus extensions
Rate: £25.96 per hour Umbrella.
IR35 status: Inside IR35.
Location: Samlesbury based


Job Description

We are looking for a highly motivated and influential SHE Associate to join our SHE team based across our facilities at Warton and Samlesbury in Lancashire.

Whilst the role is challenging and wide-ranging, you will be part of a wider team of SHE professionals, and you can expect to be provided with a high level of support and development to ensure you are equipped to meet the challenges that the role provides.


Additional Information

You will hold the NEBOSH Certificate in Occupational Safety & Health and working towards the NEBOSH Diploma in Occupational Safety & Health (or equivalent). Qualifications and/or working experience in the area of Occupational Hygiene or Environmental Management would also be a distinct advantage

You will be an excellent communicator at all levels, and be able to adapt your communication style to fit the audience.
You will have excellent presentation skills, and have experience running meetings.
Experience in a SHE role would be essential



Responsibilities
As a BAE Systems SHE Associate, you will be responsible for providing competent and professional safety, health and environmental advice and support to our business operations which could typically comprise 300+ employees with diverse safety, health and environmental risks to manage.
The management of contractors is a significant activity for many aspects of the business, vetting, monitoring and assurance activities to ensure contractors are performing in line with their risk assessments and method statements will also form a key element of the role. A thorough understanding of the Construction, Design and Management regulations is required and experience of site inspections.
Detailed knowledge of the Provision and Use of Work Equipment and the Construction (Design & Management) regulations is required to support Plant and equipment installation and modification projects.
Experience in accident investigations is essential and the ability to follow through to completion tracking of corrective actions.
Additionally you will be involved the in implementation and maintenance of the SHE Management System (Certified to OHSAS18001 and ISO14001) within your business operation, leading on risk assessment, accident/incident analysis and assurance activity, along with a wide variety of related tasks that fall within this diverse role.

You will be a confident communicator both written and verbal, with excellent influencing skills. You will have the ability to adapt your communication style to suit the audience. You will also be an ambassador for cultural change within the business, able to influence and promote a positive SHE culture at all levels.
