Business Change/Project Manager | 6 month initial contract | Preston (hybrid)



A great opportunity has come along with a leading aerospace and defence business who are currently looking to recruit a Business Change/Project Manager for their site based in Preston. The role is an initial 6-month contract and there is a view of starting the right candidate ASAP due to continued growth to support a high profile project!


The Role: Business Change/ Project Manager
Contract: 6-months initially plus extensions
Rate: £31.76 per hour umbrella.
IR35 status: Inside IR35.
Location: Preston - hybrid


The role

Key responsibilities

Will have responsibility for delivery of change management within the programme;

  • Support benefits realisation through ensuring change impact assessment outputs are included in the programme benefits tracker and agreed with the Programme Manager, ensuring consistent benefits realisation standards are applied.;
  • Perform an impact assessment of the changes being introduced on the business teams, and coordinate project/programme business readiness activities;
  • Support Sectors/BU's in carrying out Impact Assessments;
  • Monitor and report project/programme change performance and ensure full integration of change elements into project/programme schedule;
  • Establish and maintain strong stakeholder (internal and external) relationships maintaining regular dialogue and managing expectations. External stakeholders include 3rd parties such as Alexandre Mann Solutions, Business Unit stakeholders, internal includes the People Services employee base and wider internal Shared Services teams;
  • Shape and manage the delivery of the communications plan for the programme/projects including coordinating various stakeholder forums and collating briefing material from wider programme team
  • Working alongside the Shared Services Employee Communications Manager to align programme comms plans
  • Proactively identify the risk arising from the change activities and ensure they are properly managed within the project/programme context;
  • Ensure any change management activities are properly incorporated into any project/programme LCM activities. Be responsible for managing the Business Change element of the LCM process
  • Responsibility for Driving Business Change across the Project Services element of the Programme;
  • Support other Business Forums to drive the change agenda, e.g. PCRB, Steer Co Board etc;
  • Maintenance and regular review of robust stakeholder management artefacts including mapping, comms and plans with Programme Team.
  • Supporting and co-ordinating the inputs and outputs of the Sectors, Functions, CoE's and Shared Services ensuring detailed agile project plans exist and support in managing these too.

Essential requirements

Broad Business Change Management experience demonstrated in a professional role within a business or project;

  • Good Knowledge and understanding of both project and the wider business environment;
  • Experience of driving business change;
  • Be able to identify, adopt and tailor good practice;
  • Knowledge of the BAE Systems Recruitment processes (desirable).
  • Ability to effectively carry out Business Change Management tasks of medium to high complexity and provide guidance in those areas;
  • Experience in working with, and influencing, senior stakeholders across multiple businesses and functions;
  • Develop & implement solutions to problems;
  • Project Management skills;
  • Strong stakeholder management style and able to engage with individuals at all levels
