"My career in permanent recruitment spans over eight years, with experience in both the private and public sector. I was attracted to a career at JAM after being genuinely inspired by our CEO John Morris’s vision for the future. This was passionately ‘lived and breathed’ by everyone I met in the interview process, something which really stood out to me in comparison to staff engagement within other recruitment businesses. This, coupled with the incredible rewards and incentives on offer, made JAM irresistible."

"After starting my career apprentice trained as a welder fabricator, I progressed in to a design engineer role and eventually became a project engineer/manager. I felt that I had done as much as I could within my industry so decided to make a step sideways into recruitment. I have been able to use my knowledge of engineering to provide specialist insight to my clients and candidates. The position is challenging but is really worthwhile when you help a candidate find their dream job."

A day in the life of a recruitment consultant

Dominic Holden, Trainee Consultant

"The role of a recruitment consultant seems simple and easy enough; match the right candidate to the right jobs and vice versa. However recruitment is so much more than this. As a trainee consultant, and 8 weeks in to the structured 13 week recruitment excellence programme, I’ve learnt more than I ever expected. I’m now knowledgeable of the whole recruitment process from start to finish, otherwise known as the ‘360 degree’ process. From talking to candidates seeking new work, to speaking to managers, developing relationships and building up my patch aiming for the ultimate business development outcome, to pull a new job.

Recruitment exists due to a lack of the skilled/niche professionals which is a challenge in itself, so when I pulled my first job the difficulty to find ideal candidates was a huge shock. Recruitment can be very challenging, a normal day consists of ups and downs, but when things start coming together as they have in the last few weeks, and I begin to book in interviews and continue to pull more jobs it is unbelievably rewarding.

I didn’t want just a job I wanted a career, a career that would be as challenging as it is rewarding, which is exactly what recruitment gives."
