"Before joining JAM I completed a BA in Economics specialising in Finance followed by an MSc in Social Research Methods and Statistics, both at the University of Manchester. Prior to this I attended Ampleforth College (an all-boys boarding school in the middle of North Yorkshire run by monks) and did A-Levels in Maths, Economics, Ancient Greek and Christian Theology.

As with many people I’ll happily concede that I fell into recruitment, but it was a good fall as I’m still here over a decade on. I joined JAM as a Trainee Consultant and have progressed through the ranks and have held roles such as Business Unit Manager and Accounts Director. My recent roles have been extremely varied and have helped develop my all round skills.

"After graduating from an MEng Aeronautical Engineering degree in 2005 I established my career within the aerospace and defence sectors for 8 years thereafter. I attained my Engineering Chartership in 2010 and rapidly took an interest in customer facing projects. In 2012 I pursued my interest in the commercial sector of engineering by joining JAM and have never looked back since. I have been able to use my knowledge of engineering to provide specialist insight to my clients and candidates. The position is challenging but is really worthwhile when you help a candidate find their dream job."

Apprentices

JAM's apprentices are taken through a 12-month training programme, the objective of which is to be promoted into a permanent role as a Recruitment Consultant.

We work alongside the accredited Apprenticeship provider, Hawk training, to run the NVQ Level 2 and 3 qualifications which apprentices will study alongside their on the job training.

An apprenticeship at JAM involves developing skills which cover the full recruitment cycle, including speaking to candidates, finding out about their skills and requirements, and building relationships with clients.

What are we looking for?
  • Exceptional work ethic.
  • Determination to work quickly and progress.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • A high level of IT literacy.

"Before I joined JAM I was working as a phone negotiator for a finance company, despite an interesting role, I didn't see many career development opportunities.

"Having only recently graduated and with next to no experience in sales or recruitment, joining JAM was a daunting experience. Two and a half years on, the job still excites and challenges me on a daily basis.
